Emergency services are defined as covered inpatient and outpatient services that are needed to evaluate or stabilize an emergency medical condition that is found to exist. Emergency medicine is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. Emergency physicians care for unscheduled and undifferentiated patients of all ages.
